1. Contact Authorities

Don’t wait–every second counts in such critical situations.  The faster you act, the better your chances of getting your child home safely. Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of your child, including:

  • Full name and age

  • Physical description (height, weight, hair color, eye color, any distinguishing marks)

  • Clothing they were wearing

  • Last known location

  • Their favorite locations

  • Any special needs the child may have

In moments of panic, it’s easy to forget key details. With My Family ID, you don’t have to scramble for information. You can quickly access and share your child's complete profile with law enforcement, including facial scans, physical descriptions, and clothing details.

Your child’s well-being will be at your fingertips with My Family ID.

2. Hire a Private Investigator

If necessary, don’t hesitate to bring in additional help, like a private investigator (PI) with experience in missing child cases. PIs can provide additional resources and expertise.

PIs can be a great supplement to the police, leveraging their own resources and methods to track down your child. With the joint efforts of an investigator and the police, you greatly increase your chances of finding your missing baby boy or girl.

You will need to provide everything you know about your child, similar to what you provided police. Luckily, a lot of the information you will need to provide can be easily accessed in the My Family ID app, which will streamline the process and ease the burden.

By having this critical information at your fingertips, you empower the police and PI to act efficiently, giving your child the best opportunity to return to the safety of your home.

3. Go to Missing People Websites

Many websites exist with databases anyone can access, meaning someone might see a familiar face and provide a crucial lead, which are great tools at your disposal.

Go to sites like the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) to report your child missing and access available support. Further, you may also see your missing child on one of these sites.

It can be time-consuming and discouraging to keep checking these websites, but don’t lose hope. Your child is out there somewhere waiting for the reunion. Every moment you spend spreading awareness brings you and your child one step closer together.

4. Use Security Camera Systems

One of the most effective tools at your disposal to help you when you learn how to find a lost child is security camera systems. If your child goes missing near your home, security camera systems in your area could hold vital leads.

While you can’t check all of these cameras personally, police will check your pictures against footage. Biometric face scanning, an innovative form of facial recognition technology, can make this a more effective option, and it can help pinpoint your child within seconds so law enforcement can retrieve them.

One major benefit of My Family ID is its biometric face scanning, which will be a huge help in these situations by providing a high-quality image for law enforcement to cross reference with local security camera systems so they can locate your child quicker.

This program can be a huge asset as you determine how to find a lost child. Essentially, AMBER Alert is intended to instantly galvanize not just law enforcement but your entire community to help search for missing or lost children and ensure a safe recovery.

This program ensures that not a single second is wasted when every second counts. The AMBER Alert Program has solved many urgent missing children cases and returned many children to the safe and loving arms of their worried parents.

6. Get the Public Involved

Tap into your local network. Alert friends, family, and anyone who might have seen your child. The more eyes you have on the ground, the better. Spread the word through social media, community groups, or local newspapers.

If necessary, creating pamphlets and flyers to hand out in busy areas that get a lot of traffic could also be a great help. By putting your community on high alert, you are transforming them into a vigilant, eyes-and-ears network that works together to find your child.

Never underestimate the power of a united community in bringing your child home. A great number of missing kids and adults are found with the help of the public.
